PATRIARCHY: System Of A Down

“Women should learn to cook.”

“Your wife should stay at home.”

“Why let your husband clean the house? It should be a wife job.”

“Let your wife take care the kids. A man job only is to work.”

People who lived in a patriarchy system can relate to all of those sicks lines. Even worse when you’re a Javanese. An ethnic where patriarchy system thrives and persisted for many years. Men as a husband standing on top of the table while women as a housewife wiping off the foot table. It was nothing but a mere disgraceful system which discriminate women.

The whole concept of a wife where they should do all the housework, taking care of their children, do the laundry, preparing for breakfast and dinner, all their own work. While men should not get his hand on all of that because its a women job to do that for me it was nothing but a system created by men to hide the fear of their incompetence. Or should I say it was a system that was created in fear of woman absolute dominance that would make men feel powerless.

The system concept is not only discriminate women but even worse it can hinder a women potential. They want to get a job, but choose not to because their men didn’t allowed them to and asked them to stay at home, be a good wife and wait for their husband come home. They are on their way to pursue their dream but their men relatives badmouthed them and regretfully they quit on halfway.

The long term existence of this system is dangerous for both uneducated men and women. Uneducated women may consciously accepted the system with justification that their job is a housewife and it is their job to do all the housework. While an uneducated men would continously to oppressed women and forced them to do all the works where in fact women didn’t have an obligation to do so alone.

This abominal system should be scrapped sooner rather than later. One should not care less about culture or whatever. If it is a culture which discriminated gender then one should abandoned it. There is no use sticking on a culture system where the whole concept is wrong. People should be educated more to prevent them passing down this failed system to the next generation and finally broke it once and for all.

If Patriarchy were a band, it would be System of a down.

If that was the case, then I wouldn’t mind it disbanding.

Nah, it should be disbanded a long time ago.
